Marta's Yarn

I am not surprised that it has been 3 weeks + since I have blogged; I think I have been tapestried out.
One of the things that was commented on regularly was the colour effect at the top of the tapestry. This was achieved by using a hand - dyed yarn that I bought from Marta's Yarn shop in Caulfield several years ago.  I bought the wool to knit a pair of socks for my daughter and used what I had left in the tapestry.  My main concern in using it in the tapestry was about running out of it.  However my daughter still had the socks and if necessary I contemplated getting them back and unpulling the knitting; fortunately I didn't have to.

I used one strand of this with 4 strands of ATW wool.  What's left is precious stuff.

Hi Glennis, she will have to guard those socks. I have seen the wonderful effect the wool produced and it is lovely.
It is hard to get going with a new idea straight after you finish isn't it? I hope the creative juices start flowing soon.

Hi Mary
It is hard to get going after such a mammoth effort especially as I have a new house which needs attention too; and a garden that needs some love. My front garden is a patch of dead grass and mostly dead dandilions. I had planted some zucchini and herbs which is a start.

Are you doing your full Year 4 this year? I'm splitting mine over 2 years, which will make it less stressful ;)

I'm looking forward to learning shaped tapestries this year!!

Hi again Glennis, It is hard to get the garden going with no rain. Did it rain up your way when we had all the storm warnings? We got nothing - but we also avoided the 30,000+ (someone told me it was that many) lightning strikes. Our lawn consists of hardy dandelions, mostly.

Hi Michelle
I am doing 4th year but I have applied for an exemption from shaped tapestries as I did that at RMIT and as I have transferred to the new course I have to pick up a 3rd yr subject. So no tapestry weaving for this year. Splitting the course over 2 years should make it easier for you.

Hi Mary
We did havea fair bit of rain and hail stones and thunder and lightning a plenty. I hope to go a town near Ballarat soon called Ascot to see a garden called Lambley which specializes in dry gardens. I don't much like dandelions.
